Apple has finally launched its next-generation Siri AI with iOS 27. The new Siri brings a major upgrade to Apple’s virtual assistant with personal context, onscreen awareness, broader knowledge and new abilities across apps.
Apple started rolling out Siri AI in beta on September 14, 2026, alongside iOS 27 and the latest generation of Apple Intelligence. The company currently offers Siri AI in English, while additional languages will arrive next month.
Here is everything you need to know about Siri AI, including its features, supported iPhones, availability and current limitations.
What Is Siri AI?
Siri AI is Apple’s redesigned version of Siri, powered by the next generation of Apple Intelligence.
Unlike the previous Siri experience, the new version can understand more context and handle more complex requests. Siri AI can use information from apps such as Messages, Mail, Calendar, Photos and Notes to help users find information or complete tasks.
Apple also added a dedicated Siri app where users can start new conversations and revisit previous conversations. iCloud can sync Siri conversations across supported Apple devices.
New Siri AI Features
Personal Context Understanding
One of the biggest Siri AI upgrades involves personal context.
Siri can search across supported apps to find information that users already have on their devices. For example, users can ask Siri to find a photo, locate information inside an email or find details from their messages and calendar.
This feature aims to make Siri more useful for everyday tasks without requiring users to manually search through multiple apps.
Onscreen Awareness
Siri AI can also understand what appears on the iPhone screen.
Users can ask Siri questions about content they are currently viewing. Siri can then use that context to provide information or help with supported actions.
This feature brings Siri closer to an assistant that can understand what users are doing instead of responding only to standalone voice commands.
Siri AI Can Take More Actions
Apple has expanded Siri’s ability to work across apps.
Users can ask Siri to perform tasks such as drafting an email, creating events and working with information across supported applications.
Apple also highlights examples where Siri can help users plan something and then take action based on the information involved.
Siri Mode in Camera
Siri AI also works with Visual Intelligence through the Camera.
Users can point their iPhone camera at something and ask Siri about what they see. Siri can help search for information, answer questions and take supported actions based on the visual information.
Apple also allows users to use screenshots to ask Siri AI about information displayed on their screen.
Dedicated Siri App
Apple has introduced a dedicated Siri app for the new AI assistant.
The app lets users start conversations, continue previous chats and keep their Siri interactions organized. Apple uses iCloud to sync conversation history across supported Apple devices.
Write With Siri
Siri AI can also help with writing.
Users can ask Siri to create a draft, edit existing text or provide feedback on their writing. Apple has integrated these capabilities into supported writing experiences across its platforms.
Which iPhones Support Siri AI?
Siri AI requires an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone.
According to Apple, Siri AI works on:
- iPhone 15 Pro
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 16 models and later
Apple’s current iOS 27 support information confirms that standard iPhone 15 models do not meet the Apple Intelligence hardware requirement.
This means simply installing iOS 27 does not automatically give every compatible iPhone access to Siri AI.
Is Siri AI Available Now?
Yes. Apple started rolling out Siri AI in beta on September 14, 2026 with iOS 27.
However, availability depends on the device, language and region.
Apple currently offers Siri AI in English. The company says support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish will arrive next month.
Siri AI Availability in India
Apple’s current availability information lists English as the initial language for Siri AI and does not list India among the regions where Siri AI is unavailable.
Therefore, eligible users in India can access Siri AI when their supported iPhone, Siri language and device language meet Apple’s requirements.
Users can check their Siri settings after updating to iOS 27 to see whether the Siri AI beta option appears.
Siri AI Is Not Available Everywhere
Apple has placed regional restrictions on the initial Siri AI rollout.
The company says Siri AI will not initially be available on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS in the European Union.
Apple also says Siri AI and other new Apple Intelligence features will not currently be available in mainland China while it works through regulatory requirements.
How to Turn On Siri AI
Eligible iPhone users can check Siri AI through the Settings app.
Go to:
Settings → Siri → Try Siri AI (Beta)
If Siri is currently turned off, Apple provides the option to turn on Siri before enabling the new AI experience.
Apple requires a supported iPhone and a supported Siri and device language.
Siri AI Has Usage Limits
There is another important detail that users should know.
Some Apple Intelligence features rely on server-side models, and Apple says these features can have daily usage limits.
The limits can vary depending on factors such as the feature, request complexity, system demand and Apple’s system policies. Apple says expanded access to some of these features will become available for a fee in the future.
Is Siri AI Still in Beta?
Yes.
Apple currently labels the new Siri AI experience as beta. That means Apple may continue to improve its features, availability and performance through future software updates.
The initial release already brings major changes to Siri, including personal context understanding, onscreen awareness, broader world knowledge, app actions and the dedicated Siri app.
